As Julianne Moore celebrates 22 years of marriage with husband Bart Freundlich she’s taking a look back at her 2003 wedding—and revealing she has some regrets about her unusual bridal look. On Saturday, August 23, the Sirens actress shared rare photos of her rule-breaking wedding dress, complete with cameos from her two then-young children.
Moore—who shares son Caleb, 27, and daughter Liv, 23, with The Myth of Fingerprints director—welcomed her kids a few years before tying the knot. For their 2003 ceremony, the Echo Valley actress decided to eschew tradition by ditching bridal white in favor of a casual lilac slip dress. However, looking back, Moore admitted she wasn’t sure she still stood by her decision.

“Happy anniversary baby,” the actress wrote in an Instagram post shared with her 2.7 million Instagram followers. Alongside the throwback paparazzi photo, which was set to Caleb Moore’s “Surrender,” Moore called out her plunging light purple slip dress as well as Freundlich’s purple and white striped dress shirt, bright purple tie, and cream suit.

She added, “22 years later and I still don’t know why the theme was purple.” In the old newspaper clipping, Moore styled her red hair in a sleek, side-parted style that showed off her collarbone-length green gem-encrusted chain earrings. A pair of neon green slide sandal heels completed the star’s look. She could be seen holding Liv, who wore a white dress with white cutout sandals for her mom’s wedding day. Meanwhile, Freundlich could be seen holding his son’s hand in a second photo that showed the toddler wearing a white dress shirt.

Moore’s wedding trip down memory lane come just weeks after she shared behind-the-scenes images from the family’s trip to Italy on August 4. Caleb and Liv looked all grown up (and just like their mom) as they posed for outdoor photos with their parents.
