DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — For the second year in a row, the City of Darlington will celebrate Darlington Raceway’s NASCAR Playoffs on Thursday, Aug. 28.

Residents and visitors will greet the NASCAR Cup Series car haulers in Downtown Darlington during Haulerfest.

Once the chariots pass through the public square, Andy & Oneida will perform their nine-piece show band.

NASCAR is what Darlington is known for all around the world,” said City of Darlington Public & Community Affairs Director, Hunter Thomas. “It’s always an exciting time when the car haulers make their way through town, and it’s such a spectacle for the community. The City is incredibly thankful for NASCAR and Darlington Raceway. Andy & Oneida will once again perform, and they always put on an energetic show. There will be many activities for kids as well.

Cole Custer, No. 41 Ford Mustang Dark Horse in the NASCAR Cup Series from Haas Factory Team, will attend the event between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. for a Q&A and autographs.

Custer is a 2019 Darlington winner in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at the track and will be making his ninth career series start at Darlington Raceway.

The event will feature food trucks, vendors, race cars lining the streets and inflatables for kids to enjoy. Additionally, Darlington High School’s JV basketball team will be offering games and face painting.

The event is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the Public Square, but the fun starts earlier in the day at 4 p.m. at Florence-Darlington Technical College with the “Hauler Showcase.”

At the showcase, fans can get a close-up look at the huge, colorful Cup Series haulers that transport the stock cars that will compete in Sunday’s Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.

The drivers will also be available for questions before making their way to downtown Darlington, passing through Hauler Fest, on their way to the track, Too Tough To Tame.
