ROSELAND, La. (WAFB) – Officials announced help is available for the hundreds of people now without a place to earn a paycheck after Friday’s explosion at Smitty’s Supply.

According to the Louisiana Workforce Commission, a worker transition center is set up from Monday, Aug. 25 through Friday, Aug. 29, for Smitty’s displaced workers to get assistance with work registration, resumes, job applications, unemployment insurance claims filing, and more.

The center is open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Tangipahoa Parish American Job Center, located at 403 Market Street in Hammond. The center can be reached by phone by calling 985-901-4200.
More than 400 people were employed at Smitty’s Supply, an automotive manufacturing facility, in Roseland.
