A 46-year-old man was killed after he was hit by another vehicle while fixing a mechanical issue along a busy road in Washington County Monday afternoon. Warco said Everhart had pulled over to investigate a mechanical issue with the truck at the time he was hit. Sky 4, Pittsburgh’s only news chopper, was over the scene before 4 p.m., where multiple first responders and a medical helicopter were seen on the road. Warco said the driver did not remain on scene but, a further distance away, Sky 4 captured what appeared to be another person being taken into police custody. The Pennsylvania Turnpike posted on its alerts page that as of 6:30 p.m., the scene was cleared and the ramp from US-22 to I-576 was opened. All lanes were reopened to traffic. In a release from Washington County Coroner Tim Warco, Brian Everhart was operating a commercial truck and had parked to the right of the fog line along the entrance ramp from US-22 to I-576 when he was hit by another vehicle.
