On August 25, 2025, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Will County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 23300 block of Grinton Drive in Plainfield Township for a report of an individual experiencing a mental health crisis.
Upon arrival, deputies established a perimeter and, out of an abundance of caution, requested that nearby schools temporarily delay bus drop-off and pickup in the vicinity of Grinton Avenue and Lily Cache Road. A brief shelter-in-place was also issued for the surrounding area.
Deputies were able to make contact with the individual outside of the residence. After several minutes of conversation, the individual complied with deputies’ requests and was safely transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
The shelter-in-place order was in effect for approximately seven minutes before being lifted.
The Will County Sheriff’s Office commends the swift response of deputies and the Plainfield Township Fire Department and thanks the community for their patience and cooperation during this incident.
