Firefighter injured, dog rescued during fire in Pittsburgh’s Morningside neighborhood
Fire broke out early Wednesday morning
YEAH, I ACTUALLY JUST SPOKE WITH THE BATTALION CHIEF ON SCENE, AND HE DESCRIBED THIS REALLY INTENSE FIRE. I WANT YOU TO TAKE A LOOK BEHIND ME TO SEE THIS HOUSE HERE ON DUFFIELD STREET. THE FLAMES ARE OUT, BUT YOU CAN SEE JUST HOW MUCH DAMAGE WAS DONE. NOW, LUCKILY, ALL THREE PEOPLE, THIS FAMILY THAT WAS INSIDE AT THE TIME, THEY MADE IT OUT SAFELY. BUT WHEN CREWS GOT HERE, FAMILY WAS REALLY UPSET SAYING THAT THEIR DOG WAS STILL INSIDE. THOSE FIREFIGHTERS WENT IN, THE DOG WAS NOT BREATHING. THEY RESCUED THE DOG, GAVE IT SOME OXYGEN, AND THAT DOG IS NOW AT THE VET, BREATHING ALIVE AND WELL. SO JUST AN AMAZING SITUATION AND JUST HEROIC MEASURES TAKEN BY THOSE FIREFIGHTERS THIS MORNING. NOW THAT BATTALION CHIEF ALSO DESCRIBED JUST HOW INTENSE THOSE FLAMES WERE. HE ACTUALLY SAID THAT THEY WERE COMING ABOUT 8 TO 10FT OFF THE PORCH. SO JUST SHOOTING OUT REALLY SCARY SITUATION. BUT THE FIREFIGHTERS WORKED SO QUICKLY SO THAT THEY COULD ACTUALLY STOP THE SPREAD OF THIS FIRE. BECAUSE YOU CAN SEE HOW CLOSE THESE OTHER TWO HOMES ARE. SO THEY STOPPED THE FIRE FROM SPREADING TO THOSE HOMES. SO THAT IS SOME GOOD NEWS THIS MORNING. THE ONLY OTHER THING THAT WE DO KNOW IS THAT A FIREFIGHTER WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. THAT FIREFIGHTER IS EXPECTED TO BE OKAY. SO WE’RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO KEEP YOU UPDATED ON THIS. THEY ARE INVESTIGATING THE SITUATION, SO WE’LL KEEP YOU UPDATED AS WE LEARN MORE. BUT THE FIRE CHIEF SAYS IT LOOKS LIKE IT MAY HAVE STARTED IN THE KITCHEN FOR NOW COVERING ALLEGHENY COUNTY IN PITTSBU
