Amid the news that Louisville is looking to engage with the NCAA about getting its 2013 NCAA championship banner restored, Rick Pitino’s old comments still resonate.

“The NCAA cannot rewrite history by taking a banner down,” Pitino, now the St. John’s coach, said in 2018. “Our players won those games by outplaying outstanding opponents. And to say I’m proud would also be an understatement.”
