Nicole Eggert is sharing an update amid her breast cancer battle.

The Baywatch star shared in an Instagram post on Wednesday that she underwent a mastectomy last week. “Had a mastectomy with reconstruction on Thursday. How was ur weekend?” she wrote in the post, in which she included the hashtags #breastcancer #breastcancerawarness #feelyourselfup.

The post also included a photo of her taking a selfie, wearing a black sports bra and white underwear.

In a subsequent post on Thursday, she reshared a video about recovery and grief, alongside a caption with a quote attributed to Martha Washington. “The greater part of our happiness or misery depends on our dispositions and not on our circumstances,” it read.

The Charles in Charge actress has been open about her recovery journey from the beginning. She first told PEOPLE in an interview in January 2024 that she had been diagnosed with stage 2 cribriform carcinoma breast cancer in early December. “This journey’s been rough for me,” she said. “I always read inspirational quotes and corny stuff, but it gets me through.”

At the time, she told the outlet she was waiting for her doctor to schedule her treatment. She also explained that she first identified the painful lump on her left breast during a self-examination. “I can definitely feel it,” she said. “It’s there. It needs to be taken out. So it’s just a matter of do I have to do treatment before the surgery or can they perform the surgery and then I do the treatment after.”

But, the mother of two was determined to stay positive through it all. “There’s just no succumbing to this,” she said at the time. “This is something I have to get through. This is something that I have to beat.”

Then, last summer, Eggert revealed in a different interview with PEOPLE that she had finished treatment and was doing “good,” but was waiting to have surgery, which she admitted to finding frustrating.

“I am in sort of a gray area and I finished my treatment, waiting for more imaging and hopefully maybe surgery,” she said at the Los Angeles premiere of her docuseries After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun. “There’s a lot of waiting in this and it’s sort of something I didn’t really realize and nobody really talks about,” she added.

“The gray area is the hardest because you don’t know what’s happening,” Eggert continued. “When I’m doing treatment, I felt like I was doing something productive. So it felt positive and I was like, okay, I’m doing something positive. And now that it’s just nothing, it’s like, well, wait a minute. We got to get this out.”

Now that she’s had the long-awaited surgery, several Baywatch alums have publicly shared their support. On the comments section of her Instagram announcement, Erika Eleniak wrote, “Damn, Nicole. You are fierce.”

“You look great!!! Warrior Woman!,” Gena Lee Nolin added, while Brande Roderick said, “You look like a tough ass action hero in this photo! 💪 you got this!”
