Serbia’s star forward Bogdan Bogdanovic suffered a hamstring injury at FIBA EuroBasket 2025 in a match against Portugal. His results were reviewed by both Serbian and American doctors. Now, specialists from the United States will determine whether the injury is serious enough to rule him out of the rest of the tournament. Per the NBA’s insurance policy, the US medical staff must review the findings.
Bogdanovic Injury is Bad News for Serbia, Good for the Clippers
Bogdanovic will have to undergo additional tests to establish a final diagnosis and prognosis. If it is up to him, he would love to play for his national team. However, there are only two more weeks until the end of the tournament. Assuming he has a Grade 1 hamstring injury, he might be able to come back for the semi-finals and finals, assuming Serbia makes it there. If he misses the tournament, he will have enough time to heal for the start of the new NBA season.
The Clippers hope to use their deep bench to grind through the regular season and get fresh for the playoffs. Due to their age, they will need to preserve health and minutes for every player. Losing Bogi for an extended period could have derailed their rotation plans. The good news is that he suffered the injury early in the tournament, giving him enough time to heal and prepare for the upcoming season.
For Serbia, however, the injury means they will lose their leader and one of their best scorers. That will put more responsibility on Nikola Jokic and young players like Nikola Jovic. Against Latvia, in the first game that Bogdanovic missed, Jokic scored 39 points to lead the team to victory. However, with the elimination rounds approaching and likely the medal rounds, Serbia will miss Bogi.

How Long Does it Take for Hamstring Injuries to Heal?
Currently, there is no confirmed timeline for Bogdanovic’s recovery, as it depends on the severity of the injury. Fans remember that in last year’s playoffs, Steph Curry missed almost the entire series against the Minnesota Timberwolves due to a Grade 2 hamstring injury.
Lower-grade hamstring tears usually heal faster than more severe injuries. For example, a Grade 1 injury might need less than a week to heal. However, Grades 2 and 3 might need up to a month or two. Even if Bogdanovic misses two months, he should still be ready for at least the first or second week of the new NBA season.
How Important is Bogdanovic to the Clippers?
The Clippers had a busy offseason this summer, signing several players to improve their depth. Yet, we have to note, last season, Bogdan was the Clippers’ fourth leading scorer at 11.4 points per game. He is great at stretching the floor, converting threes at a career rate of 38.2%. During his time with the Clippers, he shot an amazing 42.7% from three on 4.8 attempts per game. That kind of production is what will help the Clippers’ bench unit.
The Clippers have several playmakers and creators, and Bogdanovic gets mostly open looks. He was one of the best shooters on the team and the most efficient from three-point range on decent volume.
