Adam Brody and Kristen Bell have received their first-ever Emmy nominations for their roles in Netflix’s romantic comedy Nobody Wants This, which follows a podcaster and a rabbi navigating an unexpected love story. Bell is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, while Brody earned a nod for Outstanding Lead Actor in the same category.
Both actors are longtime television veterans. Bell is best known for her work on The Good Place and Veronica Mars, while Brody rose to fame on The O.C. and has appeared in Gilmore Girls and Fleishman Is in Trouble.

Emmy nominations 2025: Snubs and surprises shake up the ballot
As Emmy voters sifted through hundreds of submissions, several acclaimed performances were left off the final list. Diego Luna was notably absent for his lead role in the final season of Andor, while Natasha Lyonne’s turn in Poker Face also failed to land a nomination. Only Murders in the Building stars Steve Martin and Selena Gomez were snubbed, though Martin Short earned his fourth nod for the series.
Among the surprises, Sharon Horgan received recognition for her performance and writing on Bad Sisters, and Uzo Aduba scored a nomination for The Residence, despite the show’s cancellation. Netflix’s The Four Seasons earned a single nomination for Colman Domingo in the supporting comedy actor category, highlighting the unpredictable nature of this year’s Emmy race.

Harrison Ford has received his first-ever Emmy nomination, days after turning 83, for his performance in Apple TV+’s Shrinking. The veteran actor is nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category for his portrayal of Paul Rhoades, a blunt yet compassionate therapist navigating life with Parkinson’s disease.
Ford joins a competitive field that includes Ike Barinholtz, Colman Domingo, Jeff Hiller, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Michael Urie, and Bowen Yang. Though he was expected to be nominated last year for the show’s debut season, Ford was notably snubbed despite critical acclaim.
Shrinking, co-created by Jason Segel, Bill Lawrence, and Brett Goldstein, has earned multiple nominations this year, including nods for Segel and Jessica Williams. Ford’s portrayal of Paul has also earned him recognition at the Golden Globes and SAG Awards, marking his first Emmy nod in a career spanning six decades.
The show’s third season will feature guest appearances from Michael J. Fox and Jeff Daniels, continuing its exploration of mental health, aging, and personal growth. Ford’s nomination underscores his enduring impact on screen, from blockbuster films to prestige television.

Apple TV+
Apple TV+ is poised to dominate the 2025 Emmy nominations, with Severance and The Studio expected to lead the pack. Both series are projected to earn 19 nominations each. If The Studio surpasses 20, it will become the most-nominated freshman comedy in Emmy history, surpassing Ted Lasso, which set the record with 20 nods in 2021.
Netflix is likely to follow closely behind, thanks to a strong slate that includes the critically acclaimed limited series Adolescence, the rom-com Nobody Wants This, the political drama The Diplomat, and the anthology Black Mirror.
HBO Max is expected to land in third place, with returning favorites like Hacks, The White Lotus, and the Batman spinoff The Penguin leading its nomination tally.
Peacock could see a boost from The Traitors, Saturday Night Live—especially its 50th anniversary special—and the espionage thriller The Day of the Jackal, starring Eddie Redmayne.
FX remains a powerhouse, with The Bear continuing its awards momentum, the final season of What We Do in the Shadows, and the limited series Dying for Sex, led by Michelle Williams.
Disney’s platforms are also in the mix: Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building is expected to earn multiple nods, while Disney+ could see Andor return to major categories, potentially becoming the most-nominated Star Wars series to date.
On the broadcast side, ABC’s Abbott Elementary and CBS’s Matlock are likely to be the standout contenders, with Kathy Bates potentially making Emmy history as the oldest woman nominated in the lead actress in a drama category.
