Just acquired by the New York Islanders in March 2025, Adam Beckman enters training camp as a depth forward who can find the back of the net. The 24-year-old Saskatoon native brings strong hockey sense and goal-scoring instincts to the mix, qualities that could help him crack the NHL lineup at some point within his tenure with the Islanders organization.
Beckman’s path has been winding yet resilient. Drafted in the third round (75th overall) by the Minnesota Wild in 2019, he developed into one of the WHL’s top offensive threats with the Spokane Chiefs. In the 2019–20 season, he led the league in scoring, earning a spot on the WHL West First All-Star Team and capturing the Bobby Clarke Trophy as the league’s top point producer.
He transitioned to the pro game with the Iowa Wild, showing flashes of scoring ease and puck awareness. During the 2024–25 season, he split time between the Utica Comets and Bridgeport Islanders, putting up 40 points (17 goals, 23 assists) in 55 combined AHL games. His consistency and energy earned him a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000.
The signing comes on the heels of Beckman serving a suspension stemming from a late-season AHL incident. During the game, Beckman made contact with a linesman, which the league ruled under Rule 40.3 as “deliberate physical force” without intent to injure. Beckman immediately showed concern for the official after the incident, and the AHL ultimately reduced his suspension from 10 games to eight. Having already served five, he’ll miss the first three games of the upcoming season.
