The Hamilton Township Municipal Utilities Authority has advised residents to boil their water in the aftermath of a low-pressure incident.

The MUA also said it was was giving away 2,500 cases of bottled water to its customers beginning Sunday morning.

On Saturday, the authority issued a statement that read in part: “A portion of our the HTMUA’s water system experienced a low pressure. The issue was resolved quickly. Out of an abundance of caution, we are recommending customersfollow the instructions below.

A potential or actual threat to the quality of water being provided to you currently exists As a precaution, we are implementing a limited Boil Water Advisory until testing of the water supph is deemed satisfactory.”

The authority said customers should bring tap water to a rolling boil for one minute and allow it to cool off before use, or to use bottled water.

“Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking: preparing foods; mixing baby formula, food, juices or drinks; washing vegetables and fruit; cooking; making ice; brushing teeth; and washing dishes until further notice,” the statement read. “Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. We are working as quickly as possible verify your water quality. Thank you for your patience.”

in a separate Facebook statement Saturday, the MUA said, “Hamilton Township, with the help of our neighbor Pepsi Group have secured 2500 cases of bottled water to assist residents in need. The Township of Hamilton and MUA will be distributing cases of bottled water to MUA customers Tomorrow, August 31st beginning at 9AM.

“The event will be held at Town Hall: 6101 13th Street in Mays Landing. Households will recieve one case of water with a current water bill or valid driver’s license. Water will be given out until supplies deplete.”
