Officers were called to a house on the 300 block of Fairmont Street for a welfare check on a man who was intoxicated and in distress at 9:36 p.m.
When they arrived, they found a man who began swearing and yelling at them. He retreated into a house and came back outside with a gun, police said. He reportedly fired multiple shots and continued to do so throughout the entire incident, police said.
The Allegheny County Police Department said they received reports that a man began firing shots at officers at that location at 9:50 p.m. Their SWAT units provided assistance at the scene along with other police departments from both Allegheny and Washington counties.
The man was barricaded inside a house in that location. Police said he exited the house and surrendered peacefully at 11:10 p.m.
Investigators said no one was injured but multiple police and civilian vehicles were hit.
The District Attorney’s Office has been requested to help determine the appropriate charges.
