FORT MILL, S.C. (WBTV) – Water was turned back on for some residents living in Fort Mill and Tega Cay on Monday night after York County repaired a water main that burst over the weekend.
Officials with York County said on Monday, Sept. 1 around 7:20 p.m. that repairs were complete and fire hydrants were flushed and water pressure should return to normal around 8:30 p.m.
York County also said if residents who either lost water or experienced low pressure a boil advisory was still in effect until further notice.
Officials are advising water should be boiled before consumption until further notice, for customers who experienced lower or no water pressure. Residents and businesses that did not experience any issue are not covered by the advisory.
The county issued these recommendations for a boil water advisory:
Bring water to a rolling boil. Keep it there for a full minute before allowing to cool before use.Stop using appliances and equipment that use drinkable water, such as dishwashers, icemakers, tea brewers and coffee makers.Use disposable paper, plastic or foam plates, cups, forks, etc.Prepare food using water that has been boiled.Wash hands with water that has been boiled and cooled.Wash, rinse and sanitize pots, pans and other equipment with water that has been boiled and cooled.Brush teeth with either boiled or bottled water.
