The horror world has lost a legend. Actor, writer and director from Michigan, Scott Spiegel, has passed away at 67, according to longtime friend and collaborator, Bruce Campbell.
Campbell, who starred in the “Evil Dead” film series, posted a tribute to Spiegel on X going back to their days growing up in Metro Detroit.
“This is a big personal loss,” Campbell wrote. “Scott Spiegel was a huge part of my formative years back in Michigan. From Sunday school to being stock boys together, to ”Evil Dead II,” which Scott co-wrote, I can’t look in the rear view mirror without seeing this unique guy doing cheap gags. I’m grateful for the treasure trove of happy memories. Keep Shemping, Scott!”
As Campbell mentioned, Spiegel co-wrote the second “Evil Dead” movie. He also had roles in numerous films like “Drag Me to Hell,” “Spider-Man,” “Spider-Man 2,” “From Dusk Till Dawn 2,” “Red,” and “Lionheart.”
He also directed “From Dusk Till Dawn 2″ and “Hostel 3.”
No cause of death has been announced.
