The third live results show of America’s Got Talent Season 20 proved to be the end of the road for seven fan-favorite acts.

On Wednesday, Sept. 3, host Terry Crews announced the “Quarterfinals 3” results on NBC. One night earlier, the third group of 11 acts performed for America’s votes, with rapper Micah Palace receiving Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer, allowing him to skip the semifinals and advance straight to the finals. “I thought that was such a clever song,” the judge said about the artist’s twist on a World Cup anthem.

The remaining 10 acts had their fingers crossed that they’d be one of the three who advanced to the semifinals, based on the voting results. They were: former child singer Jessica Sanchez, juggling danger duo Messoudi Brothers, crossbow shooter Anna Saranina, country singer Austin Brown, vocal group Benn Family Band, freestyle rapper Chris Turner, rock band Girish & the Chronicles, aerial duo Jacqueline & Wagner, solo dancer Maceo Harrison, and A.I. magician Mastermind.

Lindsey Stirling returns

The show’s original hip-hop violinist, Lindsey Stirling, is back on the AGT stage performing “Eye of the Untold Her,” while clips of past contestants — including singer Kodi Lee, ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer, and magician Mat Franco — are displayed in the background. Lindsey is accompanied by two drummers … and a powerful wind machine.

What You Didn’t See On TV

The hour-long episode begins with Terry showing an extended clip package of what went on last night behind the scenes. At one point, Simon is seen holding a baby and exclaiming, “It’s not mine!” over and over again. Backstage, Anna Saranina thinks that Jacqueline & Wagner’s hair-pulling routine is “insane.” The crowd visibly boos Howie Mandel when he tells Austin Brown that he should sing pop instead of country. Simon makes fun of Sofia Vergara’s awful clapping during Austin’s performance. The judges agree that Chris Turner is incredible because he has “zero seconds” to come up with his improvised routine. Before Jessica Sanchez steps on stage, Simon tells her that since she’s feeling sick, she can skip the performance; she goes out anyway and blows the roof off the theater.

Checking in with Micah Palace

Terry brings out Golden Buzzer recipient Micah Palace, who claims he didn’t know what Simon was getting at when he asked him what color the World Cup is. The answer, of course, is gold, which led to the British judge pushing the Golden Buzzer. “I was just trying to answer the question, that’s it,” he reveals as the audience cheers him on.

Creating the Top 5

Terry announces he will bring out five pairs of acts and reveal how America voted in each case, to determine this week’s top five. Unfortunately, that means the bottom five acts will be sent home.

First pairing: Chris Turner vs. Maceo Harrison. It’s great news for the improvisational rapper! “You just keep doing you, buddy,” Howie tells Chris. Maceo Harrison is eliminated.

Second pairing: Jacqueline & Wagner vs. Anna Saranina. Congrats to the aerial duo! “Both of these acts were stunning,” Mel B exclaims. “It was a really hard choice.” Anna Saranina is eliminated.

Third pairing: Benn Family Band vs. Jessica Sanchez. As expected, the experienced solo singer (who’s very pregnant) is moving on to the next round! Benn Family Band is eliminated.

Fourth pairing: Mastermind vs. Austin Brown. The audience cheers as the A.I. magician makes it through! Sofia looks absolutely shocked, but says of Mastermind, “He was amazing last night. We had a great time. It was magical.” Austin Brown is eliminated.

Fifth pairing: Girish & the Chronicles vs. Messoudi Brothers. The danger jugglers take the final spot in the top five! “I think America got it right,” Mel exclaims about the brothers, aka her Golden Buzzer act. Girish & the Chronicles are eliminated.

The Clairvoyants are back

The Clairvoyants, married mentalists from Season 11 of America’s Got Talent, return to the same stage that helped make them a popular world-famous act. While Amélie is sitting on a swing blindfolded, Thommy asks Sofia to pick a random object from her makeup bag (a cooling roll-on for her knee). Mel writes “my kids” down on a board. Howie thinks of bathing in sanitizer. Amélie correctly guesses all of those random things! The audience members write down words that make them think of AGT, and then throw the papers at the judges. Simon grabs the word that says “miracle,” which connects to The Clairvoyants’ recent Instagram reel where they talk about the miracle of becoming parents.

Semifinalists Announced

Terry brings back Chris Turner, Jacqueline & Wagner, Jessica Sanchez, Mastermind, and Messoudi Brothers to announce which three of these top five acts will advance to the upcoming semifinals.

The first semifinalist is Mastermind!

The second semifinalist is Chris Turner!

The third semifinalist is Jessica Sanchez!

To recap, that means the seven eliminated acts this week are: Maceo Harrison, Anna Saranina, Benn Family Band, Austin Brown, Girish & the Chronicles, Jacqueline & Wagner, and Messoudi Brothers.
