Global Plant Genetics (GPG) is proud to mark its 10th anniversary. A decade defined by growth, innovation, and enduring partnerships. Founded by Jamie and Rupert, whose combined horticultural expertise exceeded fifty years, GPG set out with a clear vision: to be the world’s leading IP company in its product range, delivering exceptional genetics and expertise from plant to plate.
From its earliest breeder meetings to formal licensing agreements, GPG has built success on strong relationships, industry leadership, teamwork, consistency, and a commitment to excellence. Over the years, the company has assembled a specialist global team in plant breeding, IP protection, licensing, technical support, and market development, with each member bringing unique skills and passion for the GPG mission.
The company’s success has also been driven by staying close to clients and breeders worldwide. From European fields to North American glasshouses, South American berry plantations to Asian production hubs, GPG’s global reach has fostered long-term relationships and ensured its portfolio reflects the evolving needs of growers and markets. Today, that portfolio spans multiple crops and regions, delivering varieties renowned for their yield, resilience, flavour, and innovation.
Along the way, winning the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade in 2022 was a defining milestone in our first decade of business. As the UK’s highest accolade for business success, it recognised GPG as a leader in international trade.
Looking ahead, GPG is building on this strong foundation to meet the world’s growing demand for fresh, healthy produce. The company will continue expanding its variety portfolio, developing crops that thrive in diverse climates, meet changing market preferences, and align with advances in production and post-harvest technologies. Berries – central to GPG’s passion and expertise – will remain a core focus, with continued investment in breeding programmes and grower support.
As GPG embarks on its next chapter, it extends heartfelt thanks to its stakeholders. Breeders, growers, licensees, distributors, and partners – whose trust and collaboration have made the company’s achievements possible.
