Rapid buildout of the data center industry to meet the needs of AI has nVent Electric expanding its Minnesota manufacturing space for the second time in two year.
nVent, which is headquartered in London but run out of St. Louis Park, announced it will be building out a 117,000-square-foot manufacturing space in Blaine that will make liquid cooling products for the data center and power utility industries.
The company did not disclose the cost of the new production facility but in its recent earnings announcement it said it had raised its capital spending budget for 2026 to $110 million. That number includes more than the Blaine expansion, said Sara Zawoyski, president of nVent Systems Protection.
The facility in Blaine is expected to add 175 jobs when it opens in 2026. The new space is in addition to a 145,000-square-expansion nVent opened this year at its plant in Anoka that is expected to create 150 jobs.
“I think it’s really reflective of the strong and rapid growth, we’re seeing within that data center space,” Zawoyski said.
The nVent facility is yet another win for the growing northwest metro and Anoka County, which has become a magnet for manufacturing expansions including Graco, Boston Scientific and Heliene.
The new nVent jobs include skilled production positions as well as support and management roles. The added capacity in Anoka and Blaine will provide additional career advancement opportunities for local nVent employees, Zawoyski said.
The new addition means that nVent employment within Minnesota, including its operational headquarters, will approach 2,000. The company’s total employment is about 12,100.
