Cincinnati has a longstanding history with cinematography. Over the past 40 years, the city has been used as a backdrop for more than 50 films. It was also among the three final cities in contention to host the Sundance Film Festival (sadly to no avail).

This year, the Queen City appeared in James Gunn’s “Superman” as the Cincinnati Museum Center transformed into the Hall of Justice. “The Mastermind,” a star-studded crime drama filmed entirely in Cincinnati in 2024, was also among the 22 feature films competing for the Cannes Film Festival’s highest honor: the Palme d’Or. (That film officially releases in October.)

Other movies filmed here include the 1988 film “Rain Man,” which won Best Picture at the Oscars. A few other movies have also been nominated for the Academy Awards, such as 2015’s “Carol” and 2011’s “Ides of March.”

There are plenty goodies to choose from to go with your popcorn, but here are the 10 highest-rated movies shot in Greater Cincinnati, according to IMDb. Well, 11. We couldn’t help ourselves.
