ATLANTA, Ga. (WCYB) — For possibly just a one time deal, baseball and racing fans alike will trade the commonly known phrase of ‘It’s Bristol, Baby’ for ‘It’s Baseball, Baby.’
In just over two weeks from now, operations inside Bristol Motor Speedway will be completed and sports fans will unite for a day at the ballpark inside the race track at the Speedway Classic.
The countdown clock is on as the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds are set to hit the turf for nine innings of baseball – stepping inside the hallowed walls one of racing’s most famous tracks.
So with Major League Baseball’s All-Star week falling in Atlanta this week, it was a perfect opportunity to catch up with some of the faces of the upcoming game – not to talk baseball, but to discuss what their favorite thing about NASCAR is, in the midst of the monumental shift where ball players step foot into the last Great Coluseum.
Growing up, I was a Tony Stewart, Jimmie Johnson fan. My mom used to make fun of me, I couldn’t say Bobby Labonte right for the longest time,” said Reds pitcher, Andrew Abbott. “I didn’t have just one favorite, I kind of just followed teams and what not.I’ll watch the race every now and then if I’m around the house,” said Braves Manager, Brian Snitker. “I’ve been to a couple before. I’ve been to Atlanta Speedway and it’s cool. I just haven’t taken the time to get into it all that much.
