Liverpool’s transfer business for 2025/26 could be far from over after a fresh update emerges. The Reds made eight new signings during the summer transfer window as Arne Slot reshaped his squad for the Premier League title defence.

Alexander Isak was the eighth and final signing completed by Liverpool, arriving on deadline day after a £125million deal was agreed with Newcastle United. The Reds also tried to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, only for the £35million deal to fall through shortly after the deadline passed.

Guehi will now remain with Palace despite a deal with Liverpool being agreed and the defender undergoing a medical in London. And it seems that another move was also close to completion on deadline day.

The Mirror have reported that Joe Gomez was close to leaving Liverpool before the transfer window closed. The report claims that the Reds received an offer from AC Milan for Gomez as well as interest from Brighton.

It has been suggested, though, that Gomez could be good fit to join Palace in the near future if Liverpool manage to complete a deal for Guehi. The next opportunity for the Reds to sign Guehi will be in January, although a recent report from The Times has suggested that will not be happening.

Liverpool did manage to sign one centre-back in the summer after sanctioning Jarell Quansah’s exit to Bayer Leverkusen. The Reds signed Giovanni Leoni from Parma, with the 18-year-old tipped for a bright future.
