Oregon Rep. Javadi recall petition filed — again

The petition comes after Javadi joins Dems
A second recall petition against Representative Cyrus Javadi (D-Tillamook) was filed on Monday. It comes after Javadi left the Republican party and announced he would be running for re-election as a Democrat in 2026.
The recall was filed by Katrina Nelson, the same person who filed the first recall petition against Javadi in late June.
Nelson stated in her filing that, “Cyrus Javadi lied to his constituents’ and violated his oath of office.” Nelson said. “He is supposed to represent us, but instead he misrepresents our ability to self-govern and chooses to rule over us. He changed his political affiliation during his term, thereby failing to uphold the commitments he made to the electorate.”
In an interview with The Astorian, Nelson said she refiled the petition because of Javadi’s recent switch from Republican to Democrat. She wanted to reflect that change in the petition.
They’re not being heard. So this is their opportunity to be heard,” Nelson said. “And he just switched parties, so we deserve this opportunity to take our votes back, and this is the only way to do it.”
Nelson also said Javadi “infiltrated” the Republican party.
Javadi responded to the second recall filing in a statement to The Astorian.
“This recall is about disagreement over votes, not misconduct,” Javadi said. “My focus remains on serving House District 32: fixing roads, protecting rural health care, affordable housing, protecting and creating jobs, and keeping our communities safe. I’ll keep listening to all voices, whether they agree with me or not.”
In order to qualify to get on the ballot, the recall petition must contain at least 5,417 valid signatures, and each signer must be a registered voter in House District 32 at the time of signing.
Nelson declined to comment on how many signatures her original petition had received.
Signature sheets must be filed with the Oregon Secretary of State no later than 5 p.m. on Dec. 8, 2025.
