BREAKING NEWS: Fire spreads 900 acres near Coombes Canyon, one evacuated

PENDLETON — A wildfire forced one resident to evacuate Monday evening along Coombes Canyon Road, according to Pendleton Fire Chief Tony Pierotti.
Firefighters responded to the blaze at 5:37 p.m., on Sept 8, which scorched approximately 900 acres across Coombes Canyon Road and Reinhart Road near Pendleton.
Pierotti reported no injuries and no structures lost.
Crews battled the fire with assistance from multiple agencies including the Pendleton Fire Department, Echo Fire Department, Umatilla Tribal Fire Department, Umatilla County Fire District No. 1, Umatilla Rural Fire Protection District, East Umatilla Fire and Rescue and Pilot Rock Fire District.
While fire rescue crews conducted mop-up operations, a second fire broke out on Nolin Grade Road in Echo, prompting emergency responders to divert resources to the new scene.
