Anna Kalinskaya, the Russian tennis star who is the ex-girlfriend of world No. 2 Jannik Sinner, called out another male tennis star for sliding into her DMs “10 times” asking for a date.
The culprit?
World No. 11 Holger Rune of Denmark, she says.
Asked by former tennis player Anna Chakvetadze on the First&Red podcast if other male tennis players had tried asking her out, the 26-year-old Kalinskaya replied: “Tennis players – more often before.
“Now I’m older, I don’t know, for some there’s no chance! No need to write.
“Someone wrote like 10 times and then gave up. I’ll say who it is now, Holger Rune. He writes to everyone. He thinks too much of himself.
“Maybe he’s just desperate, but he’s not the only one [to have messaged me].”
Rune, 22, disputed her account, taking to social media to say, “Ha ha ha. We might have cultural differences that make Anna read a comment on a story as an invitation to a date.
“If I want to go for a date, I ask for a date. Don’t worry.”
Kalinskaya, who reached career-high ranking of world No. 11 in singles and No. 37 in doubles, also briefly dated tennis bad boy Nick Kyrgios when she was 21.
She later called him a ‘bad person’ on an Instagram Live.
“You are not a bad boy, you are simply a bad person,” she said.
Kalinskaya began dating Sinner, then the world No. 1 in early 2024, but the relationship did not last.
She is now reportedly back with her former boyfriend Tomas Ferrari.
‘I’d rather not [reveal who he is],” she said in the First&Red interview.
“He’s not an athlete. He used to do sports, but not professionally. He loves sports, I don’t think I could be with a person who has zero interest in my profession, but he works in finance.”
