WILLOWS, Calif. – Mendocino National Forest officials have announced a temporary closure of the off-highway vehicle trails in the Grindstone Ranger District due to wet weather conditions.

The closure was triggered after the Stonyford weather gauge recorded more than three inches of rainfall in the past 24 hours.

Wet weather trail closures are enforced when two inches of rain fall within a 24-hour period to prevent soil loss, protect water quality, reduce the damage to trail heads, and ensure public safety.

The United States Forest Service says they will provide updates on the closures through its website and social media channels.
