A battle for food in the wild played out in front of a trail camera in Ferry County in July.
Craig Dunn lives near the Kettle River and set up the trail cam on his property. Â

Hungry critters came looking for a meal and a bald eagle reminded the coyotes and ravens who’s boss of the forest.

“It’s not an interaction you see every day,” said Craig.Â
Ravens, coyotes and the eagle converged on the dead deer.
“The ravens tried to chase the eagle off. Then the eagle chases off the coyotes,” said Dunn.

The eagle proved to be king of the carcass.
“You kind of forget how big an eagle’s wingspan is,” said Dunn.
There is an eagle’s nest nearby. Dunn thinks the giant bird was just making sure any baby eagles would have enough food.  Â
At some point, the pictures appear to show the ravens waiting patiently for the eagle to finish. One raven appears to be eating some morsel it managed to escape with. Â

The pictures also show one of the coyotes chasing off the eagle but Dunn isn’t so sure that’s the case.

He thinks that just maybe the eagle was done feasting and coyote thought it was safe to finally move in for a bite. Â
