Read on to learn more about the new cast members joining Only Murders in the Building season 5 —and where you might’ve seen them before.
Renée Zellweger as Camila White

Renée Zellweger will always be Bridget Jones, but her range extends far beyond the awkward charm she exuded in that series. Her standout turns in Jerry Maguire (1996) and Chicago (2002) gave way to her Oscar-winning performances in Cold Mountain (2003) and Judy (2019).
Now, Zellweger joins Only Murders in the Building season 5 as Camila White, an eccentric billionaire with serious influence over New York’s high society.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, co-creator John Hoffman revealed that the trio of ultra-wealthy characters in season 5 are loosely inspired by real-life figures.Â
“You can fill in the blank,” Hoffman quipped when asked who inspired Camila. “I mean, I will only say that, apparently, Martha Stewart bought an apartment in the actual Belnord [building], where we [film] our Arconia on the Upper West Side, last year. So she was a tiny bit of inspiration that way, and I hope she gets the joke of the fun of it, because Camila White is a very different person in many ways.”
Christoph Waltz as Bash Steeg

Christoph Waltz is the recipient of two Oscars for his performances in a pair of Quentin Tarantino films: Inglourious Basterds (2009) and Django Unchained (2012). You may also know the severe Austrian actor for his run as supervillain Ernst Stavro Blofeld in the James Bond films Spectre (2015) and No Time to Die (2021).
He’ll next appear in Guillermo del Toro‘s Frankenstein (2025), alongside Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, and Mia Goth.
On Only Murders in the Building, Waltz takes on the role of Sebastian “Bash” Steeg, a tech billionaire written with “a little wink wink at many of those in that business,” Hoffman told EW.Â
“[He’s] a person interested in extending his own life as long as he possibly can, and it makes the trio wonder [about] this big mystery secondary to the big mystery, ‘How old is Bash Steeg?'” Hoffman explained. “And when it starts getting up into triple digits, or getting close to it, it starts to make them wonder, ‘My God, he may be onto something.'”
Logan Lerman as Jay Pflug

An entire generation of pop culture fans grew up with Logan Lerman, who’s best known for the Percy Jackson film series (2010–2013) and The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012), as well as Darren Aronofsy’s Noah (2014), and David Ayer’s Fury (2014).
After a strong return to TV with the Nazi-hunting series Hunters (2020–2023) he’s kept busy with roles in Bullet Train (2022), We Were the Lucky Ones (2024), and Oh, Hi! (2025).
Lerman portrays nepo baby billionaire Jay Pflug in Only Murders in the Building season 5. “Jay is the son of a very, very wealthy, wealthy, wealthy family, well-known in New York,” Hoffman said. “They were Pflug Faucets until they became Pflug Pharma.”
Téa Leoni as Sofia Caccimelio

Téa Leoni rose to fame with a leading turn in Michael Bay’s Bad Boys (1995) and has kept things interesting ever since. She confronted dinosaurs in Jurassic Park III (2001), pulled off a heist with Jim Carrey in Fun With Dick and Jane (2005), and appeared opposite Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd in this year’s Death of a Unicorn.
She’s also done well for herself on the TV front, headlining shows like The Naked Truth (1995–1998) and Madam Secretary (2014–2019).
Leoni popped up in the season 4 finale of Only Murders in the Building, and is officially back for season 5 as Sofia Caccimelio, a woman desperate to find her missing husband, Nicky.
The actress hasn’t said much about the role, but she recently told Collider that it was a “really fun” experience. Hey, that’s something.

Bobby Cannavale excels at playing tough guys with a taste for trouble, but his resume is wildly diverse. He’s appeared in everything from Paul Blart: Mall Cop (2009) to The Irishman (2019), with roles in The Other Guys (2010), I, Tonya (2017), and the Ant-Man movies along the way.
Cannavale cut his teeth on TV’s Third Watch (1999–2001), and has since appeared in memorable roles on series such as Boardwalk Empire (2012), Nine Perfect Strangers (2021), and Netflix’s The Watcher (2022).
The busy actor will next join Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis on the Prime Video series Scarpetta.
Cannavale joins Only Murders in the Building season 5 as Nicky Caccimelio, a.k.a. the “Dry-Cleaning King of Brooklyn.” He’s Sofia’s mobster husband who starts out as a suspect in Lester’s death before suddenly vanishing.
Keegan-Michael Key as Mayor Tillman

Keegan-Michael Key knows his way around a comedy set. After all, he co-created Key & Peele (2012–2015), the Emmy-winning series that gave us Obama’s anger translator and about a hundred other quotable sketches.Â
Since then, the comic and actor has popped up in a number of film and TV projects, from Dolemite Is My Name (2019) to Schmigadoon! (2021–2023) to Wonka (2023). There’s also his extensive work as a voice actor, which includes contributions to Toy Story 4 (2019) and The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023).
On Only Murders in the Building, Key plays the mayor of New York City, who, as it turns out, is a big fan of the podcasters.
Ahead of the season 5 premiere, Key told PEOPLE that he “had the time of his life” working on the show and said teaming up with Martin and Short was surreal and “an absolute delight.” He added, “They’re also just lovely men. They’re both very unique in their own way.”
Dianne Wiest as Lorraine

Dianne Wiest doesn’t need an introduction, but here’s one anyway. She’s got two Oscars, two Emmys, and a resume full of unforgettable roles, from Hannah and Her Sisters (1986) and Bullets Over Broadway (1994) to Edward Scissorhands (1990), and Practical Magic (1998).
You might also recognize Wiest for her starring roles on Life in Pieces (2015–2019) and Mayor of Kingstown (2021–2023). She’ll soon appear in Practical Magic 2, reprising her role as Bridget “Jet” Owens.
In season 5 of Only Murders in the Building, Wiest plays Lorraine, Lester’s widow. Hoffman gushed about Wiest in a recent interview with Parade, saying he was starstruck from day one. “When I look at this cast this season, in season 5, Dianne Wiest is just a personal favorite of mine forever,” he shared. “And I couldn’t believe when I was talking to her on a Zoom about doing it. And then she just fulfilled in the greatest ways.”
Jermaine Fowler as Randall

Jermaine Fowler got his start in stand-up, and his 2016 special Give ’Em Hell, Kid helped put him on the map. He’s since starred on the sitcom Superior Donuts (2017–2018) and appeared in comedies like Sorry to Bother You (2018), Coming 2 America (2021), and The Blackening (2022).
Up next, he’ll share the screen with Barbie Ferreira and Charli XCX in the horror film Faces of Death.
On the Hulu series, Fowler plays Randall, the Arconia’s new doorman. Â

The actress has a few big projects on the horizon, including the fourth Meet the Parents film, Focker In-Law.
Feldstein steps into the role of Althea, Mabel’s former friend-turned-pop star who moves into the penthouse in the Arconia. Althea, we learn, goes by “Thé” (pronounced “tea”) these days,
She took to her Instagram Story on Sept. 9 to share that it was “an absolute joy to play Althea/Thé!!!!!!! Truly a dream job.”
