The beginning of conference play in the Big 12 highlights a five-game slate of college football Friday night.

Deion Sanders and Colorado are expected to start redshirt sophomore Ryan Staub at quarterback against Houston. Despite beginning the year as the third-string quarterback, Staub has largely outplayed freshman Julian Lewis and Liberty transfer Kaidon Salter.

Avery Johnson and Kansas State haven’t quite looked right following a Week 0 defeat in Dublin, Ireland. They’ll try to bounce back against a high-flying Arizona team. Veteran quarterback Noah Fifita has thrown for 534 yards and six touchdowns through two games.

Elsewhere, No. 22 Indiana is the only ranked team in action, as the Hoosiers host Indiana State. Cal transfer Fernando Mendoza threw for 245 yards and four touchdowns in Saturday’s win over Kennesaw State.
