Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell was all smiles as he told reporters that McCarthy missed practice on Thursday.
MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Vikings family gained a new member during what is certain to be among the most memorable weeks of J.J. McCarthy’s life.
Vikings QB McCarthy and his fiancée, Katya Kuropas, welcomed Rome Micah McCarthy into the world, according to a post shared on social media Friday. McCarthy commented, “& so are you my love” and “God is GREAT!”
Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell was all smiles as he told reporters that McCarthy missed practice on Thursday. The couple announced back in May they were expecting their first child.
Kuropas said baby Rome is “The sweetest, most perfect gift from God!! We are so unbelievably blessed to be your parents.”
“I’m excited for him with this new chapter, this new journey, but after you’re done with that, come on back,” joked receiver Justin Jefferson.
It’s already been quite a week for the 22-year-old quarterback, who is two days removed from being named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Vikings to a comeback victory over the Chicago Bears on Monday night.
McCarthy went 13 of 20 for 143 yards and accounted for three fourth-quarter touchdowns to lead the rally.
