Imagine waking up one morning, looking out the window, and finding a raccoon in your yard that’s playing with your dog’s toys! That’s what happened recently to @funkyybug, and the cute video will totally make your day!
Watch on as the chunky raccoon runs around and plays with the toys just like a dog himself. It’s clear from the video that he’s having fun, and we wouldn’t be surprised if this becomes a regular visit for the raccoon!
Looks like @funkyybug is going to need to get some more toys! She said in the video’s caption, “Edit: I know my dog isn’t supposed to share saliva with wildlife!! I thought that was common knowledge…. I went out to throw the toy away later that morning, and the raccoon had already taken the toy with him LOL!” He had so much fun with the toy that he ended up stealing it!

Reactions to the Playful Raccoon
Commenters had a lot to say and even shared some of their own stories about raccoons around their homes. @obedientghoul made us laugh when they pointed out, “They’re really trying so hard to get domesticated lol!” Funky replied back with, “If I didn’t have a dog, I would have made him a little house and put out food tbh.” @RK added, “If cats, dogs, birds and whatever else can…they can as well. #2026ForRaccoons“.
@Emily shared, “My friends had an outdoor cat, and so they had a cat door for their cat to come and go. My friend said once he found a giant raccoon using the cat’s litterbox in the basement. He said he and the raccoon were both confused and scared.”
Another commenter had a similar story, “Our family friends had a cat door, they left for vacation and came back to a family of raccoons in their house LOL!”
Commenter @dcaito1721 had a cute story, too: “Yes! I noticed my bird feeder was knocked down. Watched the Ring footage. I moved the feeder higher and started feeding my little masked friend. He likes bananas, dry cat food, and sometimes snap peas and carrots; never tomatoes or green peppers. Last night, he washed his feet in the water I gave him. It’s been four days and I love him already!”
Well, now we want a neighborhood raccoon to come visit our backyard!
