A father and son will take to the same grid in the upcoming NASCAR event, the Masters of the Pros 200 — to be held at Owosso Speedway. The “most prestigious pro late model race in America” is headed to Mid-Michigan next week.

Hosted at Michigan’s oldest race track, this will be the 13th time the race is conducted which has been won by Bubba Pollard, John Hunter Nemechek and Chase Elliott. A $25,000 prize has enticed a multitude of racers to the event including father-and-son headliners Kevin and Keelan Harvick.

Kevin Harvick, 49, who was the 2014 NASCAR Cup Series Champion is now a Fox Sports Analyst and will take to the track racing against his 13-year-old son.

It will be the fourth time the father and son have competed against eachother as Keelan looks to continue challenging for the bragging honors of being the best driver in his family.

The younger Harvick showed he was no slouch behind the wheel after a successful race against his father at Kevn’s Kern Raceway in Bakersfield, California. The race saw Keelan take a thrilling late-race lead to secure the victory which was his first in a Pro Late Model.

Harvick’s most recent Michigan win came in 2022 and he has six NASCAR Cup Series victories at Michigan International Speedway. His impressive record in the Great Lakes State including a streak of three straight wins in 2019-2020.

Owosso Speedway is currently undergoing a major renovation project, which includes several different developments.

These range from repaving the track, installing new walls and catch fencing plus building a new pit area. More upgrades are expected over the next few years as the facility is improved.

Kelan again showed his pedigree as he defeated his father for a second time, his other victory came at Evergreen Speedway in Washington as he beat his dad across the line.

Kevin told track owner Rex Wheeler: “It’s always great to go new places, but I think for me I was really fortunate to have a lot of success at the Michigan Speedway there in the Cup car and Xfinity car and all the things that I was able to create a fan base up there and I love the fact that we have reengaged with those hardcore NASCAR fans.

“It’s going to be a great month for racing and I can’t wait to be apart of that. It’s all exciting. I can’t wait to get up there. All the pictures and everything I’ve seen of Owosso Speedway — it looks beautiful.”
