Draymond Green Criticizes Josh Allen Despite Heroics Against Ravens

Golden State Warriors’ veteran forward and four-time NBA champion Draymond Green criticized Josh Allen, while dismissing Buffalo Bills’ comeback win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1. The Bills kicked off their 2025 NFL campaign with a jaw-dropping 41-40 victory over the Ravens, despite trailing with 15 points in the final four minutes. Bills superstar Allen delivered one of the most electrifying comebacks as threw for 215 passing yards and two rushing touchdowns in the final quarter alone.

With this, the reigning NFL MVP not only guided his side to a victory but also scripted history. Allen surpassed Hall of Famer Thurman Thomas to become the Bills’ all-time leader in rushing touchdowns with 67. While the Bills and their fans are over the moon now, Draymond Green isn’t and threw cold water on the hype. Green declared that Allen doesn’t have what it takes when the stakes are high.

“Josh Allen is a damn good quarterback,” Green said on NFL insider Jordan Schultz’s podcast. “But just because he’s a damn good quarterback don’t make you “the guy.” He’s never gonna get it done when it matters the most. Pointing to Allen’s playoff struggles, Green continued, “And so I don’t care how Herculean of a comeback effort you have at home in Week 1, he’s never gonna be the guy that’s gonna come out and win a championship and be the guy when it matters the most. He’s not the guy.”

Green’s comments stem from Allen’s 0-4 playoff record against the Kansas City Chiefs including losses in the 2020 AFC Championship, 2021 Divisional Round, 2023 Divisional Round, and 2024 AFC Championship.

Josh Allen’s Stellar Career and Patrick Mahomes Hump

“Jalen Hurts is the guy, Patrick Mahomes is the guy. Josh Allen isn’t the guy. When it matters the most, he is not going to Herculean you in a playoff game to win a Super Bowl title. He is not gonna do that. They can go at me all they want, but until they win a Super Bowl, I’m right,” Green added.

The 29-year-old has been the Bill’s starting quarterback since his second game after being drafted 7th overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. Since then, he led the side to six consecutive playoff appearances, including two title games in 2020 and 2024.

Not only this, but he also created history by becoming the first-ever Bills quarterback to win the NFL MVP in the last season. However, he fell short when it mattered the most, during the 2025 AFC title game against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. The defeat gave them a sense of deja vu as both teams were in the same spot, but in the divisional round.

While Green is not an NFL analyst, his championship pedigree gives weight to his opinions. The four-time All-Star knows what it takes to win and has an eye for winners.
