Video: River Stingray
WILSON, Wyo. — Nothing like a moose sighting on a misty Monday morning.
Buckrail contributor River Stingray encountered this bull moose on the West Bank early on Monday, Sept. 15 (from the safety of a vehicle).
As a moose matures, his annual set of antlers grows. Prime adult bull moose can grow a rack that measures five feet wide from tip to tip, according to the National Park Service. Bulls typically shed their antlers in late December to late January, although young bulls may retain their antlers as late as March. Shedding heavy antlers helps moose conserve energy and promotes easier winter survival, per the park service.
