Great Britain were favourites to beat Japan today, but they’ll be the underdogs against the United States in their semi-final tie on Saturday.
Jessica Pegula (world ranking – seven) and Emma Navarro (18) lined up for the USA in the singles matches against Kazakhstan earlier today, with both of those players comfortably higher in the WTA rankings than Katie Boulter (55), who is Great Britain’s highest-ranked player in Shenzhen.
