Officers were called to DD’s Food Mart on S. Pinckney Street and said they found a woman dead in the parking lot, a window shot out at the front of the store and shell casings.They said the victim appeared to have been shot. The coroner identified the woman as Kiran Patel, 49, of Union. They also responded to a shooting Tuesday on South Mountain Street. In that case, 67-year-old Charles Nathan Crosby was found dead in the yard of a home with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Thursday night, the agencies responded with a search warrant and an arrest warrant. Officials said SLED was able to call everyone out of the home except the suspect. They said the standoff lasted for several hours, and the suspect eventually exited the home without harm or further incident.According to Union Public Safety officials, Hill was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation, and then to the Union County Jail.
