Dos Pueblos girls golf captured a crosstown rivalry victory over San Marcos on an overcast Thursday afternoon at Glen Annie Golf Course.
The Chargers (7-0, 3-0 Channel League) totaled a team score of 230, while the Royals (3-4, 2-1 CL) came together to shoot a 257.
“San Marcos is well prepared by Coach Ashton and we always have to be at our best,” Dos Pueblos head coach Dan Choi said. “With the rainy conditions, we knew that it was going to take a lot of mental toughness from all the golfers.
“All of the DP girls had some rough shots out there today, which made me even more impressed by the way they all rose to the challenge and kept their cool and focused on preparing for the next shot.”
Celeste Alcaraz led the Chargers and all golfers with her score of 39 to earn the match’s medalist honors.
The other Dos Pueblos golfers were Dani Hickman (46), Angelia Pagliaro (46), Bella Sebastian (47), Macy Prahm (52) and Sophia Morales (66).
As for the Royals, Mia Rocha led the charge with her score of 45. She was followed by Chloe Bellamy (47), Simrin Singh (47), Hadley (58), Karenna (60) and Siena (64).
“For most of the players, it was the first time they had played in the rain,” San Marcos head coach Sarah Ashton said. “I was pleased with their willingness to get out there and do their best despite the adversity of the weather.
“The girls were proud of their efforts today, and while we are disappointed to lose a league match, DP is a talented, well-coached team who played a great round and did so with class.”
