Caleb Holt, the top shooting guard in the country per 247 Sports, took an official visit to Providence this weekend, sharing photos and videos from the trip on Instagram Sunday.

The 17-year-old Alabama native has been busy this fall, with recent stops at Kentucky, Alabama, and Arkansas. He’ll play his final high school season at national powerhouse Prolific Prep in Florida.

At 6’5 and 200 pounds, Holt is a physical, downhill scorer with elite athleticism and defensive instincts. According to 247 Sports’ Scouting Director Adam Finkelstein, he boasts a 6’9 wingspan, finishes efficiently at the rim (68% in Adidas 3SSB play), and excels defensively in passing lanes with 2.5 steals per game.

Providence faces stiff competition from SEC heavyweights, including Alabama and Auburn. “Caleb’s an Alabama kid through and through,” his father told On3 after their Tuscaloosa visit. “The interest and the relationship was only enhanced by way of this weekend.”

Still, the Friars are still in the mix. Travis Branham of 247 Sports wrote, “Providence is a real factor here and could prove to be a real contender as they’re in the midst of a strong push for Holt.”

The Friars are swinging big — fighting it out for one of the most electric prospects in America.
