Felix Auger-Aliassime saw his ATP ranking soar to 13th in the world after a phenomenal run at the US Open, the highest he has been in two years.
The Canadian, whose career has stagnated in recent seasons, recorded his best finish at a major since 2021 at Flushing Meadows when he reached the semifinals.
En route to the final four, he knocked out seeded stars Alexander Zverev, Andrey Rublev, and Alex de Minaur, before Auger-Aliassime fell to eventual runner-up Jannik Sinner.
Despite the loss to the Italian, the US Open marked a much-needed turning point in the 25-year-old’s career, which tennis legend Jimmy Connors says he now has to build on.

Speaking on the ‘Advantage Connors’ podcast, the eight-time Grand Slam champion said: “FAA, who got to the semis, had a great tournament.
“He can’t think that ‘I got to the semis of the US Open. I can live off that.’ They have got to get over that. Because they are not winning it.
“They have to think that’s a great stepping stone, a springboard. Now it’s time for me to really take off. And he’s a young kid too.
“You have got to treat every match and tournament and opportunity that you have as if it’s your last, because you never know how long it’s going to be.”
The story of Felix Auger-Aliassime’s 2025 ATP season so far
Auger-Aliassime got his season on the ATP Tour off to a perfect start, winning the first event of the year in Adelaide.
Despite a second-round exit at the Australian Open, he then clinched his second title of 2025 in Montpellier, before enjoying a largely successful trip to the Middle East, reaching the semifinals in Qatar and the final in Dubai.
After that, however, Auger-Aliassime underwent a poor run of form, crashing out in the early stages of several competitions, picking up just three wins during the entirety of the clay season.
Following an up-and-down grass swing, in recent months, he has made the quarterfinals of the Canadian Open and the semifinals in New York.
Heading into the Asian swing, Auger-Aliassime will hope to add more points to his tally in the ‘Race to Turin’, in the hope of qualifying for the year-end ATP Finals.
