Foxing has decided it’s time to put the band to rest for an indefinite amount of time. The indie rock band from St. Louis just completed a U.S. tour with Coheed and Cambria and Taking Back Sunday with a final show at Chateau St. Michelle Winery in Seattle, Washington, on Sunday.
On Monday, Foxing made the sudden announcement of hitting the pause button on their Patreon. “After 14 years as a band and 12 years of consistent touring, we’ve decided to take a hiatus from playing shows, writing, or doing anything as Foxing,” the statement begins.
After 14 years as a band and the release of five albums, the statement continues to reflect the wariness of being in the music industry, as well as the four members’ self-perception.
“This band has been completely inseparable from us as people for our entire adult lives up to this point,” Foxing writes. “It is so much of our identity and our sense of self-worth in the world. But it has become clear to us that in our pursuit of our dreams and making the most honest and genuine art we can, our relationship with music, each other, and our sense of self without the band has eroded.”
Foxing ended the statement expressing gratitude to their longtime fans and potentially keeping the door open for a return.
“Know that if you ever saw us at a show or listened to our records, you were getting the most from us that we could possibly give in that moment,” they added. “We will come back if/when we feel that we have more to give. Thank you for everything over the years.”
