The 2025-26 Portland Trail Blazers season unofficially begins Monday, when the team holds its annual media day at the Moda Center.

The rebuilding Blazers return most of the key young pieces from a roster that overachieved in the second half of last season, when the team went 23-18 to surprisingly finish with 36 wins.

But there are some new faces. A franchise icon is back. One of the best perimeter defenders in the league is joining the rotation. And a young Chinese phenom has arrived in the United States.

What will the Blazers look like in 2025-26? In an effort to bring you up to speed, we’re providing a daily snapshot of the roster as media day approaches. Next up: Jerami Grant.

JERAMI GRANT

Measurables: 6-foot-7, 210 pounds

Age: 31

Position: Forward

2024-25 stats: 14.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists

NBA experience: This will be his 12th NBA season

Contract status: Grant is entering the third year of a five-year contract that will pay him $32 million this season

Expected role: Key rotation player

Outlook: Deni Avdija and Toumani Camara have not only emerged as the Blazers’ starting forwards, but also as important building blocks of the franchise’s multiyear roster rebuild. So, after a disappointing, injury-plagued 2024-25 season, Grant enters his fourth training camp in Portland facing an uncertain role. Will he play well enough to usurp his younger teammates for a starting spot? Will he slide over to shooting guard and start ahead of Shaedon Sharpe? Will he come off the bench for the first time since the 2019-2020 season? And, perhaps most important, can he regain the passion and shooting touch that prompted the Blazers to sign him to a mammoth five-year, $160 million contract? Plenty of pundits have deemed that contract one of the worst in the NBA, but the Blazers will need a motivated Grant — and his shooting, defense and experience — to take a significant step forward this season.
