Waiting For Godot (starring Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter) and a supercharged Hamilton (with newly returned star Leslie Odom, Jr., reprising his role as Aaron Burr) were among Broadway‘s top earners last week, helping to send total grosses up 7% to $32,203,241 for 28 shows.

Top earner of the week was Hamilton, which took in an amazing $3,598,015, towering over #2, Wicked, which came in at $2,005,491. Godot (in previews at the Hudson) was at #3, grossing an impressive $1,820,137 (the two higher-grossing shows are musicals). All three productions were sell-outs.

Other sell-outs for the week ending September 21 (grosses were distributed by the Broadway League a bit late this week due to the Rosh Hashanah holiday) were Art (which had a planned three-performance week, grossing $315,262), Buena Vista Social Club, Just In Time (which scored the highest gross of its run with $1,331,598), Mamma Mia!, Maybe Happy Ending, Oh, Mary!, The Outsiders and The Lion King (attendance at 99% of capacity).

In its final week, Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club saw a boost in business, jumping $191,242 over the previous week to land at $820,805. Attendance was at 97%, with an average ticket price of $98.99. The show did not recoup its capitalization.

Some other numbers of note:

The Lion King celebrated its 11,000th Broadway performance at the matinee on Saturday, September 20. To commemorate the milestone, the company showcased 162 members of the cast, crew, orchestra and theater staff who have been part of The Lion King family for between 5 and 27 years, including 18 who have been there since the first performance in 1997;

Top average ticket prices for the week were Hamilton ($335.14), Godot ($266.96) and Just in Time ($232.63);

Lowest average ticket prices for the week were Jeff Ross: Take a Banana For the Ride ($64.74) and Punch ($66.40).

Season to date, Broadway, in the 17th week of the 2025-26 season, has grossed $578,789,722, up about 8% over last year at this time, with total attendance of 4,547,256 up 6%.
