Caring for farm animals can have its fair share of hard work and stressful moments, but there are other beautiful memories that make the effort oh-so-worth it. Whether it’s enjoying a heartwarming snuggle or laughing at their antics, our four-legged friends know how to put smiles on our faces.

The folks at @nattywestalpacas received the most heartwarming surprise on September 16 when a newborn baby alpaca took her very first steps. Her skinny legs and wobbly stride have all of her new fans swooning, though no one is prouder than her mama.

Look at her go! This newborn alpaca, also called a cria, blew everyone away with her eagerness to get up and explore. She’s only a few hours old, and she already has a zest for life!

Of course, I couldn’t watch this video and not enjoy her spindly legs. No wonder viewers are naming her Pipe Cleaner! At first, I laughed at that silly sounding name, but once someone suggested the nickname Piper, my mind may just have changed.

Others thought she looks like a vanilla bean, or even a muppet, but she looked completely different just two days later. She’s incredibly fluffy, steady on her feet, and successfully zooming around the pasture!

Aww, she’s adorable! Clearly, she’s being well taken care of, and she’s growing exactly as a baby alpaca should. With all that energy, she’s already becoming the ‘it girl’ of the ranch.

When Do Baby Alpacas Stand?

It’s no secret that baby farm animals like alpacas stand and walk extremely soon after birth compared to puppies, kittens, and especially humans, but exactly how soon do these little ones stand up? The baby in this video looked like she had just been born, but she was ready to see the world!

Healthy baby alpacas will be sitting up within minutes of birth, and standing within the hour. It’s essential that newborns begin nursing within 4 hours of birth to get the nutrition they need, and then they’ll be walking and running in no time.
