Oregon claimed the No. 2 spot in the AP Top 25 college football rankings, marking the top of the poll with the first of several shakeups.

Miami, which had an open date, slipped one spot to No. 3 and was followed by top-five newcomers No. 4 Mississippi and No. 5 Oklahoma. That’s a nine-rung promotion for Ole Miss, which beat LSU Saturday, giving the Rebels their highest ranking since 2015.

Ohio State remained No. 1 for the fifth straight week, but the margin in first-place votes between the top two teams is the closest of the regular season.
