WESTMORELAND, N.Y. — A fox in Westmoreland has tested positive for rabies.

The positive rabies test was received on Sept. 29, according to the Oneida County Health Department. 

Two people exposed to the fox have received post-exposure treatment.

Residents are advised to watch for signs of rabies in animals, such as unusual behavior, excessive drooling, or getting too close.

If you encounter an animal displaying these signs, avoid it and contact your local animal control officer.

The Oneida County Health Department didn’t release where exactly the fox was located.Â
