On today’s Days of Our Lives recap:
The blackout continues…
Horton House: Julie is chatting with Jennifer Rose and says all is good in the dark. Afterwards, Thomas and Rachel run in and Julie scolds them for rough housing. They are bored and Julie notes the limited options based on the blackout. Thomas and Rachel get very excited when Julie pulls out the monopoly game. As they set up the game, Julie gets a call from Foster. Afterwards, she tells the kids someone broke into some of the stores in Horton Square and told her to alert security.
Julie breaks up a monopoly fight between the two kids so she can head off to make popcorn. Afterwards, Thomas and Rachel continue to fight. Things get vicious when Rachel blurts out that his father has a girlfriend. She exposes Cat as the girlfriend and says his father lied to him.
Greene Central: Cat and Chad discuss the kids and how they are doing well in their respective locations. They realize they aren’t going to get any work done and wonder what they could possibly do to pass the time.
The duo plays a trivia game which leads to Chad understanding she is a history buff. Cat talks about traveling when she was younger. They have an awkward encounter about the accident, all that happened with Clyde and ending up in Salem. They both apologize and Chad tells her to stop as he has already forgiven her. Chad admits to being happier than he’s been in a long time and the two passionately kiss.
University Hospital – New Wing/Mystery Lab: Leo is wandering around the new wing (why?) as Gwen is still stuck in the mystery lab. Suddenly, she hears a noise and calls out. Leo and Gwen go back and forth about the door when he finds a crowbar. When that doesn’t work, he notices a newly constructed wall and beats his way through it.
Gwen crawls through the wall and the two embrace. Gwen quickly pushes him away and asks why he is there. Leo is trolling for stories about the blackout and his source at the electric company thinks it came from here. Gwen flashes back to the “incentive” Gwen was supposed to provide the electrician to stay quiet. In real-time, Leo wonders why Gwen was locked in that room.
Gwen explains EJ reached out to her for a donation for the free clinic. She got stuck in the room when the power went out. Leo has other questions, but Gwen is dismissive.
University Hospital – Elevator: Belle and EJ continue to be stuck and frustrated. Belle and EJ snipe at one another. She thinks their current situation is his fault because he’s a cheapskate at the hospital. EJ counters the whole city is blacked out, and they haven’t been saved because no one has been able to get away as emergency services is understaffed. He thinks they should take the time to speak to one another like two people who were once in love, or in EJ’s case, someone who still is.
Belle thinks EJ’s love arrives at very convenient times. EJ regrets how he conducted himself throughout Johnny’s trial and Belle concurs, regarding regrets. She deeply regrets every giving herself to him.
Belle goes off on EJ before she begins to cough. She is having an asthma attack because of EJ’s cologne and being stuck in a small space. Belle grabs her inhaler and says she’ll be just fine.
Belle is feeling better and asks about her father’s will. EJ says he was a thorn in John’s side and will accept whatever terms she and Marlena propose. He recognizes all the good John did in the world but, most importantly, he created and raised Belle.
Marlena’s Penthouse: Marlena is passed out on the sofa when banging on the door rouses her. She finds Susan at her door saying she was close by when Salem went dark. She is stunned to hear Leo’s voice on the other side. Susan notices something is off and asks Marlena what’s up. She admits she passed out right before Susan’s arrival. Susan wants to go to the hospital but Marlena is resistant.
Marlena thinks Susan might have been right about something being unwell in her mind, body and soul. She inquires more about Susan’s vibes and she says when she met Celeste (squeal!) she was able to harness her powers.
The duo talks a bit about Johnny’s trial. Susan knew Johnny wasn’t guilty but is confused why nothing pointed her to Kristen. Marlena changes the subject and Susan admits she was close by hanging out at the graveyard. Marlena inquires and Susan explains it’s all about her training to be a medium. She notes her initial declaration of Stefano being alive might not exactly be true. That being said, his presence is very strong and lingering. Marlena decides to tell Susan about her dreams of being Queen of the Night. Susan wonders if she worries about being possessed again.
Endings
Marlena isn’t worried about possession but just wonders about the source of her dreams. Susan promises Stefano won’t be visiting her tonight as she is staying until the lights return.
Gwen refuses to leave with Leo. He begs her not to let her anger for him put her in danger. After some convincing, Gwen relents and they walk out together.
Belle decides to try and get sleep. EJ offers his jacket, and she uses it as a pillow.
Thomas insists his father doesn’t lie. Rachel thinks Cat is rubbing off on him as she lied about who she was when she first came to Salem. She says Cat was pretending to be Thomas’ dead mother.
Cat and Chad get all kinds of hot and heavy when she takes his shirt off and he removes her jacket. With that, they hit the couch for a night of passion.
