The Gophers football program picked up a commitment from Wisconsin tight end George Rohl on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-6, 230-pound prospect from Ellsworth flipped his commitment from North Dakota to Minnesota to be the 23rd pledge in the U’s 2026 recruiting class.

The three-star prospect traveled 50 miles northwest from his home to Minneapolis for the Gophers’ 31-28 win over Rutgers on Saturday.

Rohl had attended a Wisconsin Badgers camp and visited Camp Randall Stadium for at least one game in 2024, but did not receive a reported offer from his in-state school.

“I’ve grown up a Wisconsin fan,” Rohl told 247Sports last December. “It was really cool getting to go there. I really do like them.”

Rohl also received interest from Iowa State and North Dakota State with an offer from Northern Iowa. He switched from offensive line to tight end in middle school and overcame a back injury during his junior year.

The Gophers now have three tight ends in next year’s class: top prospect Roman Voss from Jackson (Minn.) County Central and Gabe Weaver from Mary Institute and St. Louis (Mo.) Country Day School.
