Xfinity outage affects customers in southwestern Connecticut Thursday

The Internet is out in southwestern Connecticut, several businesses have reported. 

The outage appears to be affecting customers with Xfinity, which is part of Comcast. The Xfinity outage map shows more than 2,000 outages near Shelton, Derby, Ansonia and Seymour that began at around 10:55 a.m. The map says that the outage was caused by network damage and, as of 1 p.m., the estimated time of restoration was about 5 p.m. 

The Goddard School of Shelton sent a message to families at approximately 11:40 a.m., stating that there was an Internet outage.
