The University of Maine and Husson University men’s basketball teams have announced that they will play an early season scrimmage in Bangor later this month.

The Division I Black Bears and Division III Eagles will go head-to-head on Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m.

That game at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor will provide fans the first glimpse at a new UMaine team that is looking to build off last year’s America East finals appearance, and a Husson squad that will be on the hunt for another North Atlantic Conference title.

It will be the first game action at UMaine for highly anticipated freshman Ace Flagg, who starts his career at UMaine after winning multiple high school championships in Maine, Florida and North Carolina. Flagg is the twin brother of Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg.

UMaine has also added local standout Emmitt Byther of Old Town and brought in several experienced transfers after losing some of their key contributors from a year ago to graduation and the transfer portal.

This will be the first home exhibition game for UMaine coach Chris Markwood, according to the school. Husson coach Warren Caruso starts the season with 600 career wins in sight, and Caruso was just inducted into the Maine Sports Hall of Fame.

Tickets for the exhibition game are available on the Cross Insurance Center Website, or at the UMaine ticket office at 207-581-BEAR.

Individual game tickets are $10 and group pricing starts at $6, according to a UMaine press release. The game is free for UMaine and Husson students who show a valid student ID.

UMaine opens its regular season at George Washington on Nov. 3. Husson hosts the University of Maine at Fort Kent on Nov. 10 for its regular season debut.
