POUGHKEEPSIE – A man was critically injured after being shot multiple times Friday afternoon in Poughkeepsie. The unidentified victim was shot while in the Garden Street alley near Main Street at approximately 5:20 p.m. City 911 dispatchers received multiple reports of the violent crime that happened in front of several passersby.
City of Poughkeepsie police, fire, and EMS personnel rushed to the scene and immediately began administering life-saving measures, including CPR, before the young man was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
City of Poughkeepsie police, assisted by at least one unit from the Town of Poughkeepsie, shut down Main Street between Market and Academy Streets while they investigated the scene and interviewed witnesses.
One witness told Mid-Hudson News that the shooter was a man wearing a gray hoodie who fled south across Main Street, through the Liberty Street alley, through the Cannon Street lot and was heading toward Church Street. The same information was also provided to the police.
