New Corteva will lead the company’s crop protection tools. SpinCo will focus on Corteva’s seed genetics.
MOLINE, Ill. — One of the top four agribusiness companies is splitting.Â
On Oct. 1, Corteva Agriscience’s Board of Director’s announced plans to divide the company into two separate business: New Corteva and SpinCo.
New Corteva will focus on the company’s crop protection tools such as products like herbicides, pesticides, and soil microbes. SpinCo will focus on the company’s seed genetics. Corteva is known for its ‘Pioneer’ corn and soybean brand.Â
“The seed and crop protection markets have evolved, and as a result, we see the opportunities ahead for both companies diverging – this is the right time to act to stay ahead of the market,” Corteva CEO Chuck Magro said in a press release. “This separation will allow both businesses to maximize long-term value creation by focusing on their own priorities. As such, we see this separation as the logical next step in their growth trajectory.”
Greg Page will chair New Corteva, and Chuck Magro will become CEO of SpinCo. The separation is expected to be final in the second half of 2026.
